NAJIM AZADZOI was born, raised, and educated in Afghanistan and has served this country on numerous reconstruction projects since 2003. He founded Azad Architects, an architectural design firm in Newton, Massachusetts, in 1993. Mr. Azadzoi earned his BA and MA in architecture from Kabul University in Afghanistan and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1984 respectively. He has nearly thirty years of experience in the fields of architecture, planning, and education. Prior to founding Azad Architects, he practiced in several well-known architectural firms in Boston, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Mr. Azadzoi has taken a leadership role in the reconstruction of Afghanistan. As a co-founder of the Society of Afghan Engineers, he was invited to go to Afghanistan and assess the damage and destruction in Kabul in 1996 and in 2002. Since then, Mr. Azadzoi has traveled to Afghanistan ten times and completed a number of projects, totaling over $300 million. |
YUSUF AFROOZ is the Office Manager of Azad Architects in Kabul and in Dubai.. Mr Afrooz is a graduate of architecture from Kabul University in 1978 and he has over 30-years of experience in different areas of architecture in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Dubai, and in Canada. Prior to joining with Azad Architects in 2006, he served in different capacities as an architect, educator and manager with United Nationas Development Program in Afghanistan and in Pakistan. He worked with International Rescue Committee as a Project Manager in the Refugee Camps in Pesahwar, Pakistan. Before leaving Afghanistan in 1989, he served as a Project Planner and Designer with Ministry of Public Works, Department of Town Planning, in Kabul, Afghanistan. He worked as a Marketing Manager and Technical Advisor with Electo Computer in St. Catharines, Canada from 2000 to 2005. His completed projects in Afghansitan consist of Earth Quake resistant housing for 20,000 people in Nahrin, 3-block Mother-Child Care in Mazar-e-Sharif. |
YOUSUF AZADZOI is the lead desginer with Azad Architects in Newton Headquarter office in Massachusetts. He recently completed his Master degree in Architecture from Northeasthern University in Boston, Massachusetts in 2008 and his Bachelor degree in Architectrure in 2007. He worked as a lead designer with prestigious architectural firms in Boston from 2002 to 2006. He also worked on several reconstruction projects in Afghanistan including the the design of Pol-e-Charkhi, Darualaman, Mazar-e-Sharif, and Gardez Afghan National Army projects. |
